It began in 1928 with a vision to become the world’s finest resort and resort community. Guided continuously by four generations of the Jones family, that vision has flourished. Today, after 80 years of successes and magnificent milestones, Sea Island is in the process of a $350 million, five-year program of improvements. In turn, residents and guests will enjoy the finest resort facilities in the world.

The Cloister Hotel
Originally built in 1928, The Cloister main building has been lovingly rebuilt and was reopened to visitors in April 2006. Its distinctive and unique architecture, together with its finishes and decor, have received enthusiastic reviews from guests. The Cloister remains the focal point of the Sea Island community. Cloister guests and Sea Island Club Members enjoy three restaurants, a clubroom for music and dancing, and exquisite facilities for member events.

The Sea Island Stables 
Located at the Southern tip of Sea Island's Frederica development, the new Sea Island Stables opened in the Summer of 2006 and instructs in both English and Western styles and offers paddocks, ring rides, guided open-trail rides and seasonal activities for riders of all levels.

The Spa at Sea Island
Adjacent to The Cloister hotel is the new 65,000-square-foot Spa at Sea Island, which features a full program of body treatments, fitness classes, health and nutrition seminars, and wellness cuisine. The new spa opened in late 2006 and features twenty three treatment rooms.

Sea Island Tennis
The Tennis Center at Sea Island offers eight Har-Tru^® fast-dry clay-composition tennis courts, including four lighted courts and one stadium court. On neighboring St. Simons, the Retreat Tennis Center features ten tennis courts with four lighted for evening play. The resort’s full-service tennis program offers professional instruction for individuals and groups, as well as partner matching for practice or games.

The Beach Club
Just across the drive from The Cloister, a new Beach Club has recently been completed. Many classic attractions have been preserved, including several pools, a splash pad, spa, impeccable beach- and pool-side service, and private cabanas. A movie theater, expanded space for childrens’ activities, Ice Cream parlor, Big George's Raw Bar, Snack Bar and Beach Club Shop have all been integrated into the new Beach Club.  The new Beach Club opened in the Summer of 2007.

Cultural Arts Center
Located at Frederica, the Cultural Arts Center will offer art programs, artist- and writer-in-residence programs, and collaborative programs with Georgia’s educational institutions. This Center will also feature a lakefront outdoor amphitheater, for concerts and other wonderfully diverse performances.

Residences on The Cloister Grounds
Residential options in the Beach Club and on the grounds of The Cloister range from one- to two-bedroom suites to grand penthouses of more than 5,000 square feet. Residents enjoy full access to both the Beach Club and The Cloister, plus application rights to the Sea Island Club.

Even as we continue to build on the traditions that generations of Sea Island families have always cherished, it is the unspoiled land of the Golden Isles that has our devoted reverence.
